Background
“No Country for Old Men" is a film whose title is
misleading. For while it might seem to the casual
browser to be a thoughtful study of the transition of
the West from cowboy rough and tumble to oil-hungry
industrialization, it is in fact a masterpiece of
modern suspense.
Our work capitalizes on the raw excitement and visual
nuance of the film.
The simple, uncluttered graphic treatment underscores
the raw violence, the memorable characters and the
chilling storyline which otherwise might be lost due to
the ambiguous title. The taglines carry a promise that
this is going to be one wild ride, and yet, their
mordant humor reflects the Coen Brothers distinct
situational laughs.
In a sea of graphically overdone one sheets and print
ads, the quiet, understated title treatments carry a
strong foreboding.
Designed to convey excitement, the work appeals to both
the avid filmgoer who appreciates the Coen Brother's
remarkable films, while at the same time it invites the
fan of action films by making it crystal clear this is
no movie for the faint-of-heart.
